While he was studying at Harvard, he became the first African-American president of the Harvard Law Review. He became the 3 rd African-American to be in the U.S. senate. He received Honorary Doctorates of Law from Knox College, University of Massachusetts Boston , Northwestern University , Xavier University of Louisiana , Southern New Hampshire University , and Howard University . In the British journal New Statesman, he was named as one of "10 people who could change the world" and in Times magazine, he was named "one of the world's most influential people". He also won the Grammy Award for Best Spoken Word Album for both Dreams from My Father and The Audacity of Hope .
