Bosnian Father Vjeko arrived in Rwanda in 1983 to serve as a member of the Franciscan order. During the 1994 genocide, he remained in Rwanda and sheltered hundreds of terrified civilians at significant risk to his own life. He was tragically assassinated in Rwanda in 1998.
