Who was he? Jawaharlal Nehru is an important figure to the Indian people even now, being both their first Prime Minister and a key player in the struggle for independence. He lived during the mid-20th century, and was a political partner of another, better-known man: Gandhi. Despite the many years that have passed, there are still those in India and outside of it who continue to observe and follow his legacy. This legacy is one of religious tolerance, human rights, and equality. Life many people, Nehru had many friends, family members, opponents, and other human connections. It is through these people that we have chosen to tell his story. Each individual page has opinions: what a person or larger group thought of Jawaharlal Nehru. If, before reading the more focused information, you would prefer to read a biography or summary of the times, that is available under the "Introduction" tab. Either one should be enough to understand the information afterwards. --Please navigate the site by the drop-down menus located at the top of the screen.
